The report includes findings for a SVOD Licensing Agreement between Netflix Luxembourg S.à.r.l. and a United States-based film and television studio that was initially executed in January 2012 and extended several times through at least January 2018.
The SVOD Licensing Agreement grants Netflix a non-exclusive license to transmit selected film and television content in the United Kingdom, including England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the the Isle of Man, and the Republic of Ireland.
The film and television licensing rate cards and terms outlined in this report were in effect from 2015 to 2018.
As of May 2019, Netflix UK has around 10 million paying subscribers, overtaking Sky satellite pay satellite subscribers for the first time. The majority of UK subscribers currently pay £7.99 per month for Netflix’s most popular package. The two nearest competitors to Netflix in the UK are Amazon Prime and Sky Now TV, which combined have around 5.5 million subscribers.
